Setting the benchmark for wheelchair accessible holiday accommodation in Scotland, Eildon Melrose Holiday Cottages & Log Cabins has five wheelchair accessible holiday cottages in Melrose, in the heart of the beautiful Scottish Borders. The holiday cottages were formed from the conversion of a Georgian farm steading formerly owned by the Duke of Buccleuch. The cottages have won many awards for accessibility including ‘Winner of the Holiday Care Service award for the best self-catering accommodation in Britain for disabled people’.

The Scottish Borders is a wonderful part of Scotland to visit with its stunning scenery and a wide variety of things to see and do. This is a land of castles and stately homes nestled along the banks of the famous river Tweed. The area has heaps of interesting small towns to explore offering a wonderful array of cultural, culinary, sporting and historical experiences.

Our wheelchair accessible cottages in the Scottish Borders vary in size and layout but all have been graded as Category 1 by Visit Scotland (the tourist board) for wheelchair accessibility which is the highest possible award. We have worked hard to provide the best facilities for our disabled guests and continue to work with Visit Scotland to encourage other accommodation providers across Scotland to do the same.

All of the cottages were designed specifically with wheelchair accessibility in mind. All have level access from car parking areas directly outside the front door and there are no ramps or steps anywhere. All doors are 34” wide and most have kick plates. Kitchens and bathrooms / wet rooms are adapted for wheelchair users and low level windows allow wheelchair users to enjoy the fabulous views from all of the holiday cottages.

We will always try to help in any way we can to make your stay more comfortable and we have a range of disability equipment available to use including shower chairs and ceiling tracking or portable hoists. A full list of the available equipment can be viewed on the Accessibility page above.

Our disabled friendly self-catering accommodation in the Scottish Borders is perfect for wheelchair users travelling alone, groups of friends and families or carers looking for a holiday with their service users.
